Well it's difficult to translate, it's a recurrent phrase in an awesome, very crude and sarcastic French show called Groland. There are often fake and hilarious stories about random rednecks, and at some point the narrator always says "and here begins the nightmare" (very poor translation), with a very stoned and flippant tone.

It has become a cult phrase over the years. It's one of the last shows that is not plagued by political correctness, doesn't hesitate showing full nudity, (very) strong language and crude humor in prime time. For example there was this short sequence showing former Pope John Paul II with his hand shaking a lot during a speech and the commentary was "What a waste for someone who's against masturbation".
